Groovy dress for Year 3 in the 1970s style dress up to celebrate our school being 50 years old.
Doesn't everyone look fabulous! Children enjoyed singing and dancing to 1970s music.
Back to the 70s with 1970s song in our morning sing assembly! Everyone dressed ready in the era that Broadbent Fold was first opened the 1970s.
Congratulations to our Stars of the week. This week, Head Teacher's ceritificates were awarded for brilliant behaviour and positive attitude to learning. We also had two Good to be Green lottery winners and some children achieved Silver Awards. Well done!
Year 6 performed a poem by Bill Bilston in assembly today. We first looked at this poem when we did our Windrush topic and it explores refugees. The poem can be read in two directions and at first year 6 were shocked at how racist the poem seemed to be!
Please watch our poem on this link: Year 6 Performance Poetry - YouTube
They performed it fantastically today :)
We had a brilliant afternoon... We enjoyed picnic food and played some games, including tug of war, sack race, hula hoop contest, penalty shootout and welly throw competition. Even the weather stayed dry, bright and sunny.
Big thank you to all the parents for their kind donation towards party food.
Year 3 learnt how to ask yes and no questions. They looked at branching databases and then created their own.
Year 3 have listened to stories including "I am Jazz" which Is a story about Jazz who always knew she was different from other kids. She had a girl's brain and a boy's body. Children discussed transgender and learnt how important it is to speak to others' so they understand differences.
Gardening club worked doing weeding and pruning to make the school planters look amaxing.
Well done to winners of the Historical Timeline Competition who planted the time capsule and the Cherry Tree as part of Broadbent Fold's 50th birthday celebrations.
