Year 2 Blog

Special visitor

Today, we had a special visitor who came to talk to us and teach us all about the Muslim religion. We learnt that Muslims have 5 things they must do: 1. Believe in Allah (one God) and a special messenger Muhammed. 2. Pray 5 times a day. During prayer, you must take your shoes off, your clothes must be clean, you must wear a hat if you’re a boy and girls must wear a head scarf to cover their hair to be respectful to Allah and finally face Allah’s house. 3. Visit Allah’s house and wear two white sheets of cloth and walk around Allah’s house 7 times anti-clockwise. 4.

All about Poland Day

Today, we are celebrating 'All about Poland Day'. This morning in assembly, we sung Baby Shark in Polish and listened to Key Stage 2 sing the numbers to 10. We also got to try some polish food, it was yummy! We also created a traditional Polish pattern, folding paper to create symmetrical patterns and then layered the coloured paper up to create flowers. Stay tuned to see out final product.

Creating Space in the Playground!

As part of Year 5's Science topic, Earth and Space, they have learnt about the different planets, and their place in order from the Sun.  They used chalk to create the planets in the playground, then invited the children from Year 2, who are also studying Space for their topic.  Miss Lewis was delighted that Year 2 were able to identify all of the planets correctly!  Well done to both classes!  Mrs Blomeley

Well done!

Well done to the children who received our Head Teachers award and Good to be Green awards this week! Keep up the hard work everybody!

Year 5 Freddie Fit Ambassadors!

Year 5 were amazing ambassadors for Freddie Fit's Circuit Training this week!  They spent two intense sessions training on Tuesday and then worked with Year 2 and Year 3 children on Wednesday as Learning Leaders.  They showed great maturity and skill when they demonstrated the activities to the younger children who worked so hard.  What brilliant role models Year 5 are!  We are very proud of you all!  Mrs Blomeley

Freddie Fit

Today Freddie Fit visited us and we did lots of different exercises. Year 5 leaders showed us what to do on each station and helped us move around the ‘circuit for life’.

A busy start

Last week, we started Yoga in our PE lessons. We took part in a yoga session lead by Miss Lewis and then we created our own 3 positions/movements. We have also been super busy in Math doing practical activities linked to place value.

Is there anybody out there?

This half term we are exploring Space. Our topic question is 'Is there anybody out there?' We will be writing stories about an adventure to Earth, creating spaceships and rockets, learning about the solar system, making space biscuits and much more. Please check out Seesaw and our class blog for updates.
