Investigating contact and non-contact forces

Today in Science lesson, Year 3 children investigated contact and non-contact forces. We had different activities and were exploring which of them involed contact. We found out that non-contact forces are magnetism and gravity.

Art fit for a King!

All of the children in Key Stage 2 have worked so hard to transform our Art Gallery into a celebration of the forthcoming Coronation of King Charles III.  They have used different medium to create their images; Year 3 used digital media to produce their versions of crowning King Charles, Year 4 used their portrait skills, Year 5 created new Royal crests by researching the King's hobbies and Year 6 chose stained glass windows as a backdrop for their amazing portraits. Well done everyone!

Visit from Ash Randall

Everyone at Broadbent Fold loved their visit from freestyle footballer Ash Randall today. He holds 25 records in the Guinness book of Records and spoke to everyone about the importance of not giving up as he has been practising for 17 years. Ash Randall taught some of our pupils and even Miss Lewis and Miss Mainprize some new tricks. Thank you for your visit Ash!

The Hive North

Broadbent Fold had the enormous pleasure to have a visit from The Hive North this afternoon. They were here to perform a play about how families are all different. The children had an amazing time being trainee zoo keepers and completely interacting with the performance. Thank you so much for  a fabulous afternoon.

Friday Awards

Congratulations to Year 3 children who received their certificates today. We had Head Teacher's Award for great effort in writing, Good to be Green Awards for following our school values as well as our first Gold Award. Well done!

The Great Big School Clean

The Great Big School Clean campaign runs from 17th March to the 2nd April 2023. I have pledged that as a school we can collect 12 bags of rubbish.  Hopefully we can collect more!

Well done to all of the children who have already started litter picking on their way to school and around the school grounds.  You are doing a fantastic job to help the environment!

#letgirlsplay

The snow didn't stop our girls taking part in #letgirlsplay last week. It was lovely to see so many girls in KS1 and KS2 taking part in our girls football tournaments. A big thank you to our Year 6 Game Changers in making the #letgirlsplay events successful and encouraging lots of other girls to play football.

Gold Food4Life

I am pleased to be able to announce that we have achieved our 'Gold' Food4Life Schools award.

I appreciate the time and effort you as parents and pupils and staff have put into ensuring compliance with the School Food Standards as well as creating a positive healthy lifestyle atmosphere. Huge congratulations on achieving the ‘GOLD’ level of the award!

Bridge Blunder in Year 3

Year 3 children worked cooperatively to design and build a bridge as part of British Science Week. This activity was designed to get children thinking about connections between weights, forces and measures. Children clearly explained how to make a fair test, they spoke about the strength of materials and how to make a sturdy bridge using only 5 pieces of paper. This investigating really did test the science skills in Year 3.
