Den building and campfire donuts

After collecting their own firewood Year 5 designed and cooked delicious campfire donuts on the open fire. Everyone loved them especially the marshmallow and chocolate ones. What shall we cook next?

Fantastic den building and firewood chopping too! Everyone loved finding the extra long branches and climbing the trees.

Quicksticks hockey competition

Some of our Year 5 and 6 pupils braved the cold and rain tonight to take part in a hockey competition. Our development team learnt lots of new skills and played a game against another school. Our competitive team came 3rd in their group winning 2-1 against Milton St John's, drawing 0-0 with Pinfold and losing 3-1 to Micklehurst. Well done to everyone that took part!

Remembrance Service

Our Head Boy, Head Girl and Chair of Governors attended the Remembrance Service at Dukinfield Cenotaph yesterday on behalf of Broadbent Fold School and community. They represented our school so well and made us proud.

Game Changers

Well done to our new Game Changers who completed their training last night. They are going to help promote girls football as part of a national campaign to have equal access by 2024. They have some fantastic ideas already and are loving wearing their new hoodies.

Year 5’s busy first Forest School session

Year 5 had a fabulous, busy forest school session this week. They played their favourite game Closer, Closer then did lots of different activities such as den building, making conker necklaces, bug hunting and making some delicious cakes, magic potions and filtering water in the mud kitchen. They all enjoyed relaxing in the hammocks too! Well done everyone.

Autumn 2 Spies Topic Year 5

Autumn Term 2 in Year 5 will be action packed in more ways than one!  Our new topic is 'Can you crack the codes to become a Spy?'  A firm favourite in Year 5, this topic presents some fantastic opportunities for writing!   The children will create interesting character descriptions and mysterious settings, resulting in spine tingling spy narratives!  They will adore Spy Day, with its opportunity to dress up as their very own spy, as well as being able to design and make their own spy gadgets!  Here is the Medium Term plan for this term, together with the Home Learning Challenge Grid.

Girls Pokémon Semi Final

Our girls football team had the Pokemon semi final tonight against St Raphael's and Dowson Primary School. They lost 3-0 to St Raphael's and 2-0 to Dowson. The girls showed great team spirit and enthusiasm throughout all of the games, supporting each other and did the school proud. Izzy showed some fantastic goal keeping skills and Reiss was very calm in defence and showed great control in the game. Evie-Mae was our player of the tournament for some brilliant tackles and for really throwing herself into every game.
