Dodgeball Final

Last week, some of our Year 5 and 6 pupils took part in the dodgeball finals involving the top 10 teams in Tameside. We came 5th in our group playing games against Buckton Vale, Dowson, Aldwyn and Greenside. They won, drew and lost some games but showed great determination throughout and real improvement since the last competition. Well done everyone, you did Broadbent Fold proud!

Team Building in Year 5!

Year 5 enjoyed the first session of their new focus in PE today - OAA.  Their task was a team building challenge where they had to demonstrate agility, balance, coordination and precision.  They had to use non-verbal communication to solve a problem - to get into alphabetical order by surname, whilst standing on the bench, without stepping off!  They were only allowed to use hand gestures - no talking or mouthing! All of the teams were impressive - they put their dictionary skills to great use!  Well done everyone!  Mrs Blomeley

Year 5's Crumble Coding Computer Workshop!

Year 5 were amazing in the Crumble Coding Workshop yesterday!  They followed the instructions perfectly to produce a piece of wearable tech to use in their exploration of the Rainforest!  Year 5's ideas were brilliant, ranging from helping them to see in the dark, to actually attracting Poison Dart Frogs with their self-designed caps, belts or wristbands!  Their behaviour and listening skills were fantastic and we were so impressed!  Thank you to Don and Liz for all your help - we really enjoyed the session!  Mrs Blomeley and Ms Wagstaff.

Who wouldn't want to talk in class?

As part of our current genre of Persuasive Writing, Year 5 took some time out to play "Think, Pair, Share", telling each other different rhetorical questions!  For those who don't know, rhetorical questions do not need an answer in response!  They will be using this feature of writing in their own persuasive letters soon and this activity will help with their ideas!  Well done Year 5!  Mrs Blomeley
