Year 4 Autumn 2 Activities
Our topic for the second Autumn Term is: What is Christmas like for others around the world? This topic gives the opportunity to cover various key features of the Year 4 Geography Curriculum. The children will: · Know the names of and locate at least eight major capital cities across the world. · Know where the equator, tropic of Cancer, Tropic of Capricorn and the Greenwich meridian are on a world map. · Learn about different Time Zones. The topic will encourage children to be empathetic global citizens when they explore what life is like for refugee children and those living in poor countries, compared to their own relatively safe, secure and comfortable homes in England. Learning and performing the traditional poem “Twas the Night Before Christmas” will serve to foster the children’s love of poetry and performance.
Year 4 children will continue many new and exciting skills to learn this year as we have swimming sessions every Thursday and have Music tuition from Tameside Music Services, where the children will be learning how to play the Penny Whistle. Furthermore, we are continuing our MFL lessons in Polish with Miss Laitl!
