World Book Day quiz

Today our Reading Ambassadors and Librarians worked together to organise and put on a book quiz at lunchtimes for the school. They helped the children work out emoji clues to guess the fairytale, nursery rhyme or children's book. The children have worked so hard on identifying books and we are really impressed with their efforts and how many books they could recognise.

Thank you so much to our Reading Ambassadors and Librarians :)

Our crocuses and daffodils are growing!

In the Autumn term the Eco leaders and their chosen helpers from each class planted crocus and daffodil bulbs with the help of the members of the Tameside Rotary. The crocuses were donated by the Tameside Rotary to commemorate the End Polio Now campaign.  Now that it is the beginning of spring the flowers are starting to grow.  Fabulous job everyone!  Please make sure that any litter is picked up, as we sadly found a number of pieces of litter near the new flowers.

Ready Steady Read in Year 1

The children had a fantasic time taking part in the Ready Steady Read with Emma Perry.  They loved pretending to be grumpy for one story and then enjoyed listening to the author Emma Perry reading out her new stories.

World Book Day Events

This week we celebrate World Book day on Thursday. During the week, we have lots of fun reading and book events taking place. Each class will have story time swaps where a different adult from the school will come to read them a story. Each class will make books to be displayed in their library making every child an author!. On Thursday Years 4-6 will take part in a football themed reading quiz. All children may bring in their favourite books, comics or magazines to read on Thursday. On Friday you may choose to dress up as your favourite character- I can't wait to see who you come as.

Home Learning Spring 2

Here is our home learning for this half term all linked to our topic 'How does your garden grow?'. Please remember to complete tasks in your home learning book and send them into school or upload them to Seesaw. Remember completing all 8 pieces of homework earns you a gold award, 6 pieces earns you a silver award and 4 pieces earns you a bronze award. We cannot wait to see all the brilliant things that you do!

How does your garden grow?

In Spring 2, our topic is 'How does your garden grow?'. We will be learning all about plants, the environment and Beatrix Potter. We will even go on a trip to our local park Gorse Hall. For more information regarding what we are learning about this half term, please see the MTP below.

International day of women and girls in science

Today Year 6 presented an assembly about different women and girls who have made a great impact in the world of science. We discussed how primatologist Dr Jane Goodall has worked tirelessy to rehome chimpanzees who have lost their habitats for various reasons. We explored how Nobel Prize winner Marie Curie discovered new elements called radium and radioactivity.

E-Safety / Competition Winners

Our pupil leaders have chosen 6 brilliant winners of our E-Safety Competition. They looked at how social media affects mental health and what we can do to improve this. We had many entries from across school and it was very difficult to decide. Well done everyone.
