Year 1 and 2 Mini Marathon

Year 1 and 2 have been taking part in the TCS Mini Marathon where they have until the 10th May to try to run 2.6 miles. They have found the first sessions difficult but showed great perseverance and kept moving. They are looking forward to the sessions next week already.

Reading Ambassador Meeting

Thank you to our Reading Ambassadors for attending their meeting with Jo Merrifield from Tameside Libraries this week. They shared their fabulous poetry display which they have created in the KS2 Library. We then looked at genres of text and how we can inspire children to trial reading a new genre. All children can access Ebooks and Audio books for free using their Tameside Library membership card using Borrow Box. Please see eReading - Tameside MBC for more information.

Nature Scavenger Hunt and Bug Hunting

This week we went on a super Nature Scavenger Hunt. We had to find different natural objects that were either smooth, tiny or large. We found lots of shiny blue Alder Beetles and so we improved the bug hotel and then we found some tiny snails and ground beetles.

Tree planting

We have been planting our new trees that we got from the Woodland Trust. They are very small at the moment but we will look after them and we are looking forward to watching them grow over the next few years.

Super Hapazome and mud fishing

We have been making some fantastic, creative pictures using the Japanese art of Hapazome (leaf bashing). We found some shiny blue Alder beetles eating the Alder leaves then we did some fishing in the mud pond.

Disney Shooting Stars Club

The girls have loved the first 2 weeks of the Disney Shooting Stars club. They were challenged last week to use junk modelling to make an animal from Lion King or to make some lion ears to wear for this week's session. Can you guess any of the animals they made? Fantastic work everyone!

DRUHM

Year 1 loved their DRUHM session on Friday, They learnt how to keep rhythms in beats of 1, 2, 3 and 4 and how to do a power slam whilst having so much fun! Great job everyone!

Home Learning Summer 1

Here is our home learning for this half term all linked to our topic 'Hot or Cold?'. Please remember to complete tasks in your home learning book and send them into school or upload them to Seesaw. Remember completing all 8 pieces of homework earns you a gold award, 6 pieces earns you a silver award and 4 pieces earns you a bronze award. We cannot wait to see all the brilliant things that you do!

Hot or Cold?

Our topic for Summer 1 is 'Hot or Cold?'. We will be learning all about where the North Pole, South Pole and equator are on a globe and comparing the key features of hot and cold places. We will have a video call from a South Pole explorer and will go on a trip to Eureka! There is so much to look forward to! For more information on what your child will be learning this half term, please see the topic web below.
