Piccollage Propaganda Posters

Year 3 looked at WW2 Propaganda Posters and the messages that they gave to try to encourage people to 'Dig for Victory', or to keep their children safe by sending them to the countryside.

Using a more modern day approach to create posters, Year 3 used piccollage (on the ipads) to recreate their own messages in WW2 style.

Can you guess the message they are trying to promote? (some of their piccollages have been cut off when uploaded!)

Freddie Fit

Freddie Fit woke Year 3 up with some energetic exercises this morning, a fabulous way to get us all super fit.

Playing with light and shadows

Today we had fun exploring shadows. We made hand shadows and drew around them. We also made shadows using objects made from different materials. We found out that opaque objects make better shadows than translucent or transparent objects because they block all the light that hits them.

Outdoor Learning Fun

Year 3 had a brilliant morning of outdoor learning fun. We shared a magical story about a fairy and her loyal friend Shadow. Then we made our own forest creatures using leaves and sticks. We also practiced our maths skills doing arrays using bark chippings, leaves and sticks.

Fanastic Fundraising by Alfie for Children In Need!

Two weeks ago Alfie started his sponsored bike ride in aid of Children in Need!   Amazingly, he managed to raise a massive £585 for Children In Need!  Well done Alfie!  We are all so proud of you for being a wonderful citizen and a fantastic role model.  Mrs Blomeley

WW2 Workshop

Today, Year 3 experienced a Blitz school. They heard air raid sirens, hid in an air raid shelter and learnt all about WW2.

Mrs Slate was impressed by Year 3's ordering of significant events in WW2.

They observed closely WW2 artefacts, a fabulous experience thanks to Mr B.

Maths At Home Competition Entries!

Here's Sam looking very pleased with himself after counting up his money from his pirate money box! Sam used multiplication and addition to get to the total. Great Maths at home! Well done Sam and Good Luck! Mrs Blomeley

Dance

Year 3 have enjoyed making their own dance routines up with a series of 6 steps/actions. Each week children take part in Dance as part of their PE with Tameside Sports' Coaches.

Carrie's War

Reading our class text Carrie's War has given children an insight into how it must have felt being a child during WW2.

ChIldren said that they would have felt scared, worried and may have had butterflies in their stomach!  They did not like the idea of leaving their parents.

Marvellous multiplying

Year 3 have been using both grouping and arrays to calculate multiplication questions.

Can you draw or make an array to show; 5 X 6  ?
