New to Year 4

I do hope you've all had a lovely summer holiday, and the children are raring for our first term in Year 4. This half term we are whizzing back in time to the Roman invasion of Britain. The children will be learning about the how and why the Romans invaded Britain and how they changed Britain. They will also be learning about key figures in history, Boudica and Julius Caesar.

Smashing Shadufs

Year 4 smashed it today when they finished their Egyptian shadufs. They worked really hard to ensure that they measured and cut the wood accurately. They managed to create a square base which supported the shaduf to stand up. The most tricky part was trying to balance the tripods so that the arm of the shaduf could be positioned. Great cooperation and perseverance was needed by all. Well done Year 4.

Final Year 4 Awards

A massive thank you to Year 4 was issued by Mrs Higham in the assembly today for being such a lovely class. Well done also to the pencil and head teacher winners.

Online Safety

National Online Safety has really useful information for children and adults.

Share and discuss this at home and in school to keep children safe over the Summer holidays.

Reading Ambassadors Celebration Event

Today our KS2 Reading Ambassadors went to Dukinfield Town Hall to take part in a celebration event with lots of other Tameside schools. It was lovely to see them up on the stage to receive their certificate to thank them for their hard work this year. I am super proud of them all.

Do you have what it takes to promote a love of reading next year? Maybe you could be the next Reading Ambassador to represent our school!

Summer Reading Challenge 2023: Ready, Set, Read!

Today we had a visitor from Tameside Libraries who introduced the new Summer Reading Challenge which is now open to enter. This summer, join the Ready, Set, Read! team and their animal mascots for the Reading Challenge as they use their skills to weave their way through a summer obstacle course. The Challenge will celebrate play and participation, encouraging you to engage in games and sports in any way that best suits you!

Cheerleading competition

Some of our KS2 children took part in a cheerleading competition this afternoon where they came 6th out of 12 schools! They did a great job cheering on all the other schools too and even made signs. Well done everyone, you did the school proud!
