Space Week...

The planetarium from Jodrell Bank visited our school for year 2s topic and to celebrate Space Week. It was out of this world!

National Poetry Day 2021

Years 3, 5 and 6 took part in a poetry workshop with the amazing Michael Rosen on National Poetry Day. We watched Michael perform some of his poetry and joined in along with him. I know that Year 6 particularly enjoyed 'No breathing in class'  Please look at Michael's website for many more poetry ideas and performances: Michael Rosen | Official Website He is certainly inspiring.

Year 4 Trip to Chester

What an absolutely amazing day Year 4 had in Chester- I was very proud to be their class teacher. Have a look at the photographs to see how much fun they had on the Roman Soldier tour. It was a great day and what a fantastic opportunity to enhance the children's learning,  experiencing first-hand the relics of real Roman sites and having access to a range of historical artefacts.

Y4 Super Stars

A massive congratulations to Evie and Sam for getting the class merit awards this week. I was highly impressed by their home learning. Well done to Faye and Kade for their exception attitude to learning and for our handwriting superstar Isabel.  Well done everyone.

Whole school handwriting winners

Well done to our Broadbent Fold handwriting champions who have already impressed their teachers with their wonderful handwriting and presentation or for a great improvement in their handwriting.

Our winners include Nursery- Isabella, Reception- Mason, Year 2- Toby, Year 4- Isobel, Year 5- Thomas, Year 6- Ethan.

All of their fantastic work is on display on our amazing writing board.

Raving Romans

Year 4 have been working exceptionally hard in school and loving our Romans topic. They have learnt about the life for the Celtic tribes before the Roman invasion and what it was like afterwards, how the Romans brought so many different things to Britain and changed it. They have written a diary as a Roman soldier and enjoyed invading a Celtic village as a soldier (on the school field). We are still learning all about Queen Boudica with our class novel- Boudica's Army and really relate to Kassie, our main character, and her love of horses.

Whole School Poetry Competition

Next week is National Poetry Day on Thursday 7th October.

In school all classes from Y1-Y6 will be perform a poem to the school in assembly.

We would also like children to take part in a competition at home: please make up a poem about space as we celebrate space week on 11th October.

Your poem could rhyme, it could be in an interesting shape, it could be acrostic. Any idea as long as it is about space!

Please bring in your poem to school and hand it in to your teachers by Friday 8th October if you would like to be entered into the competition.

Climbing Trees and Clay Faces

Year 4 have been looking for faces in the trees and using clay to design their own tree faces.  Some children even made their own hedgehogs.  They have had fun balancing on the slackline and climbing trees to see the world from a bird's eye view.
