Fantastic Footballers

Our girls made me very proud on Thursday when we went off to Curzon Ashton to play in friendly matches against 3 other schools. We won 2 out of our 3 games, scoring a massive 7 goals! I was very proud of them all as their behaviour and team work skills were second to none! Well done girls!

Year 4's Bench Ball tournament!

Sports Week began with a brilliant Bench Ball tournament in Year 4.  Fantastic team work and determination was displayed by all children.  Great Britain were the winners! Well done to everyone!  Mrs Blomeley

Olympic Lunch!

For Sports Week, the children enjoyed an Olympic Themed lunch, Japanese style!  On the menu were Chicken Gyozas (Japanese style dumplings filled with chicken and vegetables) Yakitori Shredded Beef with noodles and beansprouts,  Tempura Vegetables (lightly battered sweetcorn, carrots and greenbeans) and Oriental Egg Fried Rice with spring onions and peas.  Thank you to the lunchtime staff for organising the treat - it was delicious!

Athletics

Children really enjoyed taking part in Athletic activities including throwing the javelin, sprinting and hurdles.

We can see future Olympic stars in the children of Broadbent Fold.

Year 4's Amazing Artwork in the style of Kandinsky!

Year 4 studied the famous Russian Artist Wassily Kandinsky, who was well known for starting the abstract movement in art. They drew their pictures in his style and then colour-washed their work with water colours.  Finally, they filled in the shapes with coloured pens and outlined the patterns with black.  Their brilliant artwork is now exhibited on our "Great Artists Through Time" display in Key Stage 2.  Amazing!  Mrs Blomeley

Year 4's Persuasive Posters!

Year 4 invented their new brands of water, straight from the mountains and rivers of the world, with amazing qualities!  They used techniques they had studied in their persuasive writing lessons, such as rhetorical questions and statistics,  to create eye-catching adverts. The results were brilliant!  Well done Year 4!  Mrs Blomeley

Year 4's Rivers and Mountains!

Where else would you find the River Nile alongside Mount Fuji?  Or The Colarado River close to Mount Everest?  In Year 4 of course!  For their Creative Homework task during our last topic "Where does water come from?" the children created a combination of 3D models and amazing artwork for their chosen river or mountain.  They presented their creations with facts and figures, which has led to an impressive geographical knowledge of the world's best known rivers and mountains.  Well done Year 4!  Mrs Blomeley

Our assembly with Gary from Holy Trinity Church

In our class bubbles we welcomed Gary from Holy Trinity Church. He enthusiastically spoke about how Bible stories link to being together and how important our family and friends are. We can all be good friends. This assembly gave us time to reflect on what we are grateful for.

We look forward to welcoming Gary into our school for future assemblies.

Year 4 Topic information for Summer Term 2

Year 4's topic for Summer Term 2 is"Where would you time travel to?"  During our topic, we will delve into the fascinating civilisation of the Ancient Egyptians and write our own time travel adventure stories.  We will also create our own time travel objects to feature in our stories, which we will share with our audience - the lovely children from Year 3!  The plan is below, together with the Home Learning Grid for anyone who has to isolate, or for those who want to do extra work at  home.  Mrs Blomeley

Eco School

The Eco warriors have been working really hard this year on the three topics for the Eco schools award.  The topics are Saving Energy, Reducing Waste and Improving the School Grounds.  Due to their hard work we have recieved Eco Schools Bronze and Silver awards!  The certificates are attached below.

We have been extremely busy planting hundreds of trees, sowing wildflower seeds and seed bombs, learning how to save energy, putting up posters about saving energy, litter picking and using the new recycling and compost bins around the school.
