Pupil Leadership Team 2018/2019

The newly appointed Pupil Leadership team set about their first task last week - to choose a Science Certficate which wll be awarded in future Merit Assemblies.  This was suggested at the end of the last school year when the puil leaders put the idea forward to Ms Thornton Jones.  The team are looking forward to working together in future, helping to ensure that pupils have a voice in some of the decisions made in school.

Poppy Challenge!

Year 4 just love any sort of challenge!  They were asked to create a piece of artwork to be displayed at St. Michael and All Angels Chuch in Ashton on their Poppy Wall, to commemorate Remembrance Sunday.   Year 4 decided to use recyclable materials in the form of red and black plastic bags!   They enjoyed making their creation and the result was absolutely brilliant!  The Royal British Legion will be holding a service on Sunday 4th November at 1:30 as a thank you for the dedication of the Poppy Wall.  Mrs Blomeley

Black History Week

Well, what a wonderful week our children have had! Each year group has spent the week learning about inspirational black people from our past and present. Each class then thought of exciting ways to share their learning in our special assembly on Friday. We heard songs, listened to poems and famous quotes, watched re-enactments and admired creations made by the children. The learning from the week was truly inspirational and the children showed such a mature attitude towards the subject. We are really proud to have such respectful pupils at Broadbent Fold.

DEAR - Drop Everything And Read Workshop

Thank you to all our Nursery parents and grandparents who attended our reading workshop. We enjoyed sharing books, making paper plate scarecrows and matching initial sounds to objects. We even played I spy.

Handa's Surprise

Nursery listened to the story Handa's Surprise as part of Black History Week. They they counted how many pieces of fruit could go into a basket before trying to hold the basket on their head.

Spanish Weather in Year 4!

Year 4 have been enjoying learning how to say different types of weather in Spanish.  Senora Buckley brought her "Weather" bag and children chose different items of clothing to match them to the correct Spanish weather. They have also been Weather Reporters, demonstrating impressive Spanish accents as they reported to the class. Well done!  Mrs Blomeley

Roman explorers in Year 4!

What a fantastic day Year 4 had when they visited the Grosvenor Museum in Chester to explore more about their Roman topic!  The children enjoyed all of the activities in the workshop and were fascinated by the artefacts in the Museum's galleries.  Wearing replica armour and shields, and accompanied by a Roman Soldier and his assistants, the children's day was completed with a visit to the largest Roman ampitheatre in Britain.  The whole class were an absolute credit to Broadbent Fold.  Mrs Blomeley

Year 6 at Safe Squad

Year 6 had a very informative morning at Safe Sqaud. They learnt about staying safe online, safety in and around the home and what to do should there be a fire or they find someone unresponsive. We're in safe hands with these lot! Thanks to Tameside Youth Services for providing a tremendous service in partnership with GMP and GM Fire and Rescue.
