Numbers in Real Life! Thank You!

A HUGE THANK YOU to those people who sent in photographs for our "Numbers in Real Life" display!  We received some amazing photographs from all around the country, proving that numbers are absolutely everywhere around us!  Here are just a few of the photographs we received.  Thank you again.  Mrs Blomeley

Tag Rugby Competition

A big well done to the Year 5 and 6's who represented Broadbent Fold in the tag rugby competition this week. They all did the school proud coming 3rd in their group. They won against Moorside and Greenside 2 and lost to Russell Scott and Manchester Road 1. All pupils showed brilliant teamwork and great sportsmanship.

Stars of the week

Congratulations to Reuben and Ethan in year 6 this week.

Reuben has persevered with long multiplication looking at 4 digit numbers multiplied by 2 digit numbers. This is not always easy as there many steps to follow so well done Reuben.

Ethan has written an incredible balanced argument about whether home schooling is good for children. I am impressed with his formal vocabulary and detailed viewpoints.

Well done to Sophie and Niamh who won the good to be green raffle for following the school values.

World Space Week

Year 6 have enjoyed World Space Week. We visited the planetarium on Monday. The children were amazed at how realistic it was and loved finding out lots of interesting facts about space. We have also looked at space texts in our guided reading this week. The children have then looked at some artwork by artist Peter Thorpe and created their own 'out of this world' pictures. I will upload some pictures of their finished artwork next week.

Broadbent Fold vs Arlies

The girls football team had a fantastic first match against Arlies Primary School with Broadbent Fold winning 13-0. Laura got player of the match for her fantastic teamwork and for scoring 4 goals for the team. Thank you to Arlies for hosting the match.

Space Week...

The planetarium from Jodrell Bank visited our school for year 2s topic and to celebrate Space Week. It was out of this world!

Mental Health Day

World Mental Health Day takes place on the 10th October.  In Year 6 we will look at different types of self-care and reflect on what works for individual children. Activities may include finding things you have in common with others, stretching and breathing exercises, learning something new and carrying out acts of kindness. We’re encouraging students to continue to try different activities at home - why not try some as a family?

National Poetry Day 2021

Years 3, 5 and 6 took part in a poetry workshop with the amazing Michael Rosen on National Poetry Day. We watched Michael perform some of his poetry and joined in along with him. I know that Year 6 particularly enjoyed 'No breathing in class'  Please look at Michael's website for many more poetry ideas and performances: Michael Rosen | Official Website He is certainly inspiring.
