Art work part 2

Yesterday we started our polyblock printing using polystyrene tiles. The work so far looks amazing but as the ink takes a long time to dry we will have to finish our work after the holidays to add the second colour. I will share the final work next term.

Year 3

Year 3 awards; totally amazing superstars this week. We are delighted with Head Teachers winners for their efforts in writing newspapers.

Good to be Green - these children are always Ready, Respectful and Safe!

Anglo Saxon Baking!

As part of their Anglo Saxon Day yesterday, the whole class enjoyed the opportunit to bake some Anglo Saxon Honey, Oat and Spice Cakes!  They worked with Mrs Hallam to create their baking, using measuring skills to follow the ancient recipe.  Later in the morning, they were able to sample their hard work - the cakes were delicious!  Well done Year 5 and a big Thank You to Mrs Hallam!  Mrs Blomeley

Zoom with South Pole Explorer

Year 1 were lucky enough to have a Zoom call with Mr Mainprize (Miss Mainprize's uncle) who has completed a South Pole expedition with the RAF. Year 1 compared this to what they had learnt about Captain Scott's expedition and asked lots of fantastic questions to further their understanding. Well done everyone!

Pokémon Girls Football Qualifiers

Last week our Year 4 and 5 girls football team took part in the Pokémon football qualifiers against St Mary's and Gee Cross Holy Trinity Primary School. It was the first time they had played together but they showed great teamwork and managed to score 2 goals and come 2nd in their group! A special well done to player of the match, Matilda, for her fantastic goal keeping skills throughout the games. Well done girls!

Year 1 trip to Eureka

Year 1 had a fabulous time at Eureka. They learnt all about how the different parts of their bodies work, attended a show all about their senses and discovered how to do different jobs.

Art Work Part 1

We have created our own 'Mondrian' themes pieces of artwork this afternoon. We have also created a collograph print to create a screen print.

Tomorrow we will look at creating polyblock prints.

Islamophobia Workshop

This morning Year 6 watched a presentation from Imran Kotwal about what Islamophobia is, why it happens and what we can do to stop it. He shared that 44% of hate crimes in the UK are towards Muslims. He said that Islamophobia started after extreme Muslim groups carried out the terrorist acts  9/11 and the Manchester Arena bombing. He explained how people who don't understand Islam judge that all Muslims have the same extreme beliefs but this is not the case.

This was a very interesting assembly and it links into our P4C work very well.

Picnic time

Year 6 had a wonderful time at Gorse Hall this afternoon. They climbed trees, played sport and stuffed their faces with treats! Just wonderful.
