Today we have been learning all about Diwali.(The Festival of Light)
We have learnt about the story of Rama and Sita and we have written our own sentences about the story. We have coloured in Rangoli patterns and we have made Diva Lamps. The children have really enjoyed learning about a different culture and religion.

We have had a brilliant afternoon creating bonfire pictures and making fireworks. The children have used wax crayons and a black paint wash to make wonderful bonfire scenes. We also used our junk modelling skills to make exciting and colourful fireworks. Have a lovely bonfire night and keep safe!

This week we have made a large 3D model of the broomstick from Room on the Broom. The children had an amazing time constructing the different parts of the broomstick and the end result is "MAGNIFICENT"

Year 2 have been sharing their Star stories with Year 1 this morning. Year 2 were very proud of all their hard work and Year 1 listened fantastically to the stories.

Today we have been making biscuit spiders. The children had lots of fun using melted chocolate to make the body, adding skittle eyes and making sure they had eight legs!!! I hope they were yummy.

The children have been ordering the story of Winnie the Witch and writing sentences for each picture. Well done everybody for your amazing independent writing this week.
Welcome to the Year 1 Blog. This half term our topic is Witches and Wizards. We will be reading lots of exciting stories about witches and wizards, concentrating on improving our writing by including adjectives and writing labels of our magical potions. It is going to be a very busy half term.
We have been focusing on Punch and Judy puppet shows. The children watched different video clips of a Punch and Judy puppet show, we wrote character descriptions about Punch and Judy and we put on our own puppet shows using our amazing puppets which we made all by ourselves. It was a great week and the children even got to show all their fabulous work at our parent open afternoon. Thank you to all the parents who came to our class fairground to support us. It was a brilliant afternoon and the children really enjoyed themselves.
