This week we have been using a thesaurus to find new words to describe seaside objects.
We've had a really busy half term looking at superheroes. We used measurements in maths to make superhero potions then wrote instructions to create our own superhero power! We created our own super hero capes and helped our superheroes save people on time. Finally, we looked at real life heroes making leaflets about our emergency services.
This half term Year 2 are learning about health and hygiene. They have looked at healthy eating and food groups and discussed the importance of exercise for our body. They will be learning about the importance of personal hygiene with Miss Laitl too.
Year 2 have been using money to add and subtract amount. They have thoroughly enjoyed manipulating coins and finding out totals and change from their shopping trips.
Our topic this half term is Superheroes! We have received a mission from S.H.I.E.L.D to design our own superheroes. We are having lots of fun deciding what kind of powers they have and what they look like.
This week we have been investigating the work of Andy Goldsworthy who is an amazing sculpture artist that uses natural materials to create his art work. We also collected natural materials at home and around school and then in pairs we created our own fantastic pieces of art. Ms Thornton Jones was very impressed with our work!
In art we have been investigating different types of sculpture. Today we made our own animal sculptures with air drying clay. We made animals that you would find in our local environment. They look amazing!
We have been exploring the characters in the story of the Gruffalo by doing hot seating. The children took on the roles of the characters and asked eachother questions. We then wrote character descriptions and even wrote our own stories based on the story of the Gruffalo.
Our new topic is all about animals this half term. We are mainly looking at britsh wild animals. This week we have been discussing animals that we might find in our local environment. To start our topic work we went out onto the school field to search for evidence of animals. It was lots of fun and we found some interesting things!
