Our first blog entry of the year is by Emma and Daisy.
Our topic is volcanoes. We have been learning about different volcanoes for example, composite volcanoes are shaped like a mountain and the lava is very hot inside. We have wrote an explanation about the different types of volcanoes in English and in Art we have used watercolours to paint pictures.
What a terrific Tudor Tuesday!
We went back in time to The Tudor period learning about The Radclyffe family, who lived in Ordsall Hall. A Tudor servant and a rich Tudor lady were our teachers for the day! We dressed like Tudor people, role played having a banquet, sat in a Tudor bath, lay on a 4 poster Tudor bed and experienced being a spit girl or spit boy in the Tudor kitchen!
Can you tell who were the servants and who were the rich Tudors?
Year 4 had a wonderful time singing, dancing and performing alongside the Halle at The Bridgewater Hall.
A huge thanks to Natalie's family for arranging a family friend, from South Africa, to skype Year 4.
We listened to Jennifer, a lady from a nature reserve in South Africa, who told us all about habitiats. We then asked her questions such as:
Do you feed the animals?
How many animals are there?
Are you scared of the animals?
A wonderful experience was had by all.
Children used fabric paint, beads and colourful fabric to design and make a Caribbean t-shirt.
Children really enjoyed designing and making their own Caribbean t-shirts.
Year 4 have drawn some fabulous pictures of the Caribbean in their Art lessons. They have particularly enjoyed researching about famous Jamaican people.
