Roald Dahl Day Celebrations!

Year 4 made a fantastic effort yesterday to celebrate Roald Dahl Day by dessing up as a character from one of his fabulous books.  Characters from Matilda, The Witches, Charlie & The Chocolate Factory all made an appearances as well as Mr and Mrs Twit, The BFG and the Enormous Crocodile!  We even managed to write about our favourite Roald Dahl books and which characters we would like to be!   Mrs Blomeley

Time Travel Tales!

We have some budding authors moving up to Year 5 next year!   During their last week in Year 4, children enjoyed telling their end of year Time Travel narratives to Year 3!  Not only had they written some amazing stories, Year 4 had designed and created their very own Time Travel objects which appeared in their tales!  These magical items included watches, clocks, hour glasses, stones, hats, tickets and books!  Children from Year 3 thought this made the stories even more exciting!  Brilliant writing and fabulous design and technology work too!  Mrs Blomeley

Skipping Day

All the children from Nursery through to Year 6 had the pleasure of Anthony the Skipping Coach showing us how to skip properly. What was an amazing day concluded with an assembly and the school has also purchased class size packs of skipping ropes so we can continue to be active and master our skipping skills.

Sports Week !

The week started with a skipping session delivered by Anthony!  By the end of the day, amazingly, some children, who couldn't skip before, became confident skippers!  Throughout the week, other sporting activities took place, such as doing the Daily Mile, Short Stop Rounders,  a variety of different Obstacle Courses (thanks to Year 6) and an awesome Karate assembly!  The glorious weather meant we could use the school field too.  A tiring but very enjoyable week for everyone.  Mrs Blomeley

Year 4's Electricity Challenge - Can you light a bulb?

Year 4 enjoyed the challenge of making a simple circuit to light up a bulb in their Science lesson on electricity!  Once they had mastered that, they went on to make the bulbs brighter or dimmer by adding batteries and wires. Well done Year 4!   Ms Blomeley

Dukinfield Big Sing!

On 12th June Year 4 took part in the Dukinfield Big Sing at Yew Tree School. Together with other local schools they performed a beautiful version of "How Far I'll Go" from Moana which was amazing!  For their own performance, Year 4 chose the classic Queen song "We Will Rock You".  Fabulous singing and awesome air guitar from some of the class  was enjoyed by all!  Well done Year 4 - we are extremely proud of you!  Mrs Blomeley

Year 4 Go Bananas!

Year 4 used an unusual resource in one of their Geography lessons recently to discover more information about countries in the Caribbean - Banana Boxes!  They learnt about the journey of bananas, from being picked at the plantation to the fruit being refrigerated and exported by ships to Britain, finally ending up in our supermarkets!  Next time you're in the supermarket check the boxes to discover where your bananas were grown!   Great learning Year 4!  Mrs Blomeley

Caribbean Cocktails!

Year 4 had great fun designing and making fruity, healthy cocktails as part of their "Kidnap in the Caribbean" topic!  They used a variety of tropical fruits including pineapple, mango and kiwi fruits.  Some children were adventurous and tasted some of these for the first time! The best part was when they were able to enjoy their fruity drinks after all their hard work!  Cheers Year 4!  Mrs Blomeley

Terrific Tudors!

Year 4 really enjoyed their topic on the Tudors.  When they were set a homework task to make a Tudor style house, the results were amazing!  You can see some of these fantastic models in the school entrance, as well as a variety of portraits of important Tudor people.   Mrs Blomeley
