Year 4 Blog

Ancient Egypt

What a fantastic week Year 4 have had. They had the opportunity to see and handle Egyptian artefacts, meet Pharoah Amohep and thoroughly enjoyed learning about the Egyptian number system. The children were so enthusiastic about our visitors and thought of lots of historical questions throughout the week. They have continued their excptional ideas and have written Egyptian stories. Don't forrget to check out their work near the library.

Creative homework.

Year 4 have produced some very professional leaflets as part of their creative homework about North America.

North America

A great way to start our North America topic with a flight to Jamaica,  children had their own passport and boarding card and our classroom turned into an aeroplane. Mrs Slate was even an airstewardess!

Children have been learning about the states of the United States and have been researching famous landmarks.  We are looking forward to reading the homework projects about one of the states of America.

Robots

Year 4 have made some excellent robots for their homework projects. It's a really fun topic.

In groups children have made their own robotic dances up and even designed some robot masks.

In English children have written adverts and recorded videos to persuade people to buy their robots. Children have even used the computer to type and present their work.

Reading Joy

What a joy on World Book Day to have our finance governor- John Moon come and read one of his granddaughter's favourite stories to class. A big thank you for sharing David Walliam's The World's Worst Children.

Electrifying Electricity

Year 4 had an electrifying start to their electricity topic. They hunted school for things that used electricity and found an expert in Mr Higham who showed them the school's lightning conductor, fuse cupboard and electricity meters. The children are collecting meter readings throughout the following month to monitor how much electricity is used by school. I bet it's a lot more than you use at home!

E-safety

Children in Year 4 have been learning about how to stay safe online. They have designed some e-safety posters as part of their computing lessons. In class we have discussed and given examples of how the internet can be used safely. Children performed their e-safety assembly to the whole school and parents on Tuesday 7th February 2017 which was internet safety day.

SMART has helped us learn how to keep safe online.

Do you know how to be SMART online?

Welcome to Roman Britain

Year 4 will be studying The Romans during this half term. They will be zooming back to the past and exploring how the Romans lived, what they wore and what they ate. They will also be investigating what it was like to be a Roman soldier and seeing how influential Romans moulded history and changed the landscape and beliefs of Britain over 2000 years ago.
