Nothing beats a good book...

Year 6 enjoyed a nice relaxful start to our Friday enjoying a book in our newly revamped library.

Thank you to all of the librarians for choosing our comfy new beanbags and for deciding how to rearrange the library and surrounding display boards.

I don't know about you but could sit in there all day long!!

Y6 Science competition

Here is a selection of the competition entries in Y6 for the 'innovate a product for your classroom' design.

The children have designed new innovations which would be useful for every day school life.

Well done to our two winners Adam and Kacie :)

Super Inventors

All Year 3 entered British Science Week Competition with their amazing classroom inventions. We had cleaning robots, first aid robots and air purifying device! It was incredibly hard to select winning designs. They were all brilliant! These are our winners... Congratulation Lucy, Nasir, Isobel and Isabelle!

Y6 Stars of the week 12-3-21

Congratulations to all of our superstars in Y6 this week.

Holly wrote a beautiful poem based on our class text 'The Arrival' I was very impressed.

Isabella wowed us with her determination and courage during bikeability.

Aidan won a headteacher's certificate this week for his mature and enthusiastic attitude towards learning.

Our science competition winners are Adam and Kacie for their innovative designs.

Year 1 Forest School Week 1

Year 1 had a fantastic time in their forest school session today.  They played a sensory game trying to identify a tree while being blind folded, had a fun game of tree tig, found some pretty catkins and played in the mud kitchen.  We also learned some tree names like Alder, Silver Birch, Hazel and Oak.

Science week

In Year 3 looked and spoke about innovations and what was meant by the term innovation. Children designed acrostic innovation poems and completed activities about classrooms of the future.  We can't wait to see the designs children complete at home for the science competition.

At home, children asked parents about their jobs, we shared these in class. Did you know engineers, food production managers and even hairdressers use science in their jobs.

We watched an online live DNA detectives lesson by Dr Mandy where we learnt interesting facts about DNA.

Super Science

What an amazing time we had this week using our outdoors to identify habitats. Initially we made some bird feeders and placed them around the school grounds to encourage wildlife. Then we went on a bug hunt. We were aghast at how many insects we found, we were especially impressed that we found a toad hiding in one of our Forest School areas.

Pupil Leaders Back in Action!

Back to school meant back in action for the Pupil Leadership Team!   Their first task was to help their classes create a "wish list" of books for their own reading areas and the library.  Then they attended  an important  meeting to discuss some exciting events happening soon!  New fitness equipment, that was chosen by last year's Pupil Leaders  for the KS2 playground is on its way!  There will be a grand opening in the next few weeks!  They also discussed fundraising ideas to help raise money to improve the EYFS Playground.  Ideas such as dress up days and Covid safe sales were discussed.

British Science Week in Year 6

As part of British Science Week Year 6 have looked at different skills in working scientifically. Have a look through the images above.

So far they have planned a variety of questions to look at what affects reaction time. The children then set up investigations where they would drop/throw an object for their partner to catch under different conditions.

Bikeability

What a day for bikeability!!! Despite the adverse weather conditions Year 6 have enjoyed their day. Take a look throught the images above.

Well done year 6- lets hope tomorrow is warmer and drier!!
