As you can see, Year 4 have been creating spells. Using our class story- The Snow Spider by Jenny Nimmo, the children have been engrossed in spell writing and poetry. We look forward to their magic tricks later on in the term.

Our topic this half term is 'The Gingerbread Man'. The children all loved baking gingerbread men today and were very surprised to discover one had escaped!

This half term, we learning about A Night on Bare Moutain composed by Modest Mussorgsky off the film Fantasia. In English, we have been exploring nouns, adjectives, adverbs and have been creating our own spooky compound sentences. In Topic, we have begun researching facts about the composer. Our new  Science topic is Humans and Animal Bodies. We have begun the topic by exploring what we need to survive if we were stuck on a island in the middle of the sea. I can't wait to write my own spooky narrative. By Aidan and Jacob

We had lots of fun learning all about Halloween and Bonfire Night. We painted some scary witches, made fantastic bonfire and firework pictures and loved making and eating chocolate apples!

We have been using our maths brains this week by solving lots of word problems. It was lots of fun reading the problems, writing our own calculations and then trying to solve the problem. Even better because we were using chocolate and sweets. Great job everyone.

For homework we brought in holiday pictures. We talked about the different countries we had visited and where those countries are on the world map.

We all wrote a question about something we would like to find out about Our World. Find out if we asnwer all these questions in a later blog.

This half term our topic is "Our World"

We will be learning about different continents, oceans, houses and homes and what it would be like to live in different countries arounf the world.

A new and extremely enthusiastic team have joined Science Club for the Autumn Term and they have been busy each Thursday after school.  They investigated upthrust and gravity by making paper boats to test how many multi-links they could carry before sinking. A new record was celebrated - 27 multi links in one boat!  After searching for items of interest in the school's outdoor space, the team members found leaves, feathers and a few mini beasts.  Some amazing sights were seen when they used microscopes to view them in more detail!  We have some super scientists at Broadbent Fold!
