Children's Mental Health Week

These posters have great strategies on them to practise mindfulness.

Practise these activities each day and then when you are feeling anxious, stressed or frustrated try to use them to make you feel calmer.

I know I like to use 'Go through your senses' when I can't get to sleep. It works every time :)

Science at home ideas

Jodrell Bank Observatory is the UK’s latest UNESCO World Heritage Site and an icon for British science and engineering. Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre have many great science resources that you can use at home.

Why not design your own alien? - look at the SETI and 'alien life' section; or go on a journey to the moon- have a look at the 'watch the skies' section; or listen to some of the talks and lectures and be inspired.

PE activities

This week is Children's Mental Health week so here are lots of different activities you can do to take a break from all your learning.

- Daily Mile Bingo = Walk or run your daily mile. Earn a certificate if you get a full house.

- Football, Rugby or Athletics Bingo = The first 3 themed bingo grids in a series of 6. For each full house you complete you earn a medal and if you complete all 6 then you get a School Games badge. You can either send your entries to your class teacher or submit them via the details at the bottom of the bingo grid.

Y6 Stars of the week 29-1-21

I am so impressed with everybody in school and at home who are working so hard. Keep up all of your efforts Year 6.

This week the stars of the week are Aidan and Amelia.

Aidan's enthusiasm and hard work over the last week has been really incredible. I am impressed with all of the work that you have produced Aidan. Well done.

Amelia joins in with the remote learning well following the lessons carefully and participating well. I have been very impressed with your maths work in particular.

Congratulations to you both.

Y6 Home Learning Grid 1st February

Well done to everybody who continues to work hard in school and at home. I am missing us being together as a class so much and I really enjoy seeing so many of you through our Zoom sessions.

This week is Children’s Mental Health Week and so I thought it would be nice to hold a mini ‘Y6 has talent’.

On Friday you will all have the opportunity to share some positive talents to cheer everybody up.

The RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch 2021

Here is another resource that you can use to help you enjoy the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch this weekend.  It includes instructions on how to make homemade bird food and feeders, a link to help you record your results and a link to a live webcam where you can see and have a go at identifying the birds as they visit the feeders.

I really hope that you enjoy taking part in the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch!

Y6 Viking dress up and creative task

Well done to all in Year 6 who have joined in with the creative task. I am impressed with the range of artefacts that have been made from helmets to shields to amulets. Well done if you completed a written task too. It was lovely to share our Viking personnas today in our Zoom session- we had many children that dressed up too! We had a Ragnar, a Sir Erik and even Orla the Earmuffs. It was great to see you all having fun together again.

If you haven't yet sent me your project please do so and I will add it to the blog.

Well done Year 6.

Y6 reading dens

During our non screen day last week Year 6 had a go at making some cosy reading dens to sit and read their favourite books.

Well done to all who have already sent me some photographs. I will add more to the blog next week.

We joined in at school too- we made cosy dens under the tables using cushions and coats.

I hope you all enjoyed this :)
