Dodgeball competition

Dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge....it's time for the annual Tameside dodgeball competitions.

Pupils from Year 5 and 6 loved taking part in a dodgeball competition against other schools in Tameside and everyone did Broadbent Fold very proud.

Broadbent Fold Blasters (Y6) won games against Bradley Green Blasters and Aldwyn All Stars and also had some very close games against Greenside All Stars and Holden Clough coming 3rd in their group.

Lighting Up The World

Wow! Today, Dom from Skillsupply came into Year 4 to teach the children how to code electrical diodes. The class had an amazing time programming, writing algorithms, reading digital literacy, using Crumble equipment and electrical items, making lights change colour and flash and they even wrote a loop code and programmed a switch. A super morning was had by all.

Science

Today in Science, the children got into small groups and were given pictures of different types of food. The children were asked to sort them into different ways. Most of the groups put the foods into ‘healthy’ and ‘unhealthy’ groups but one group put theirs into ‘healthy’, take away’, ‘sweets and chocolate’ and ‘proteins.’ Another group put theirs into ‘healthy’, ‘unhealthy’ and ‘unsure.’ We discussed the unsure groups and decided if they were healthy or unhealthy.

Room on the Broom

We have been reading 'Room on the Broom' by Julia Donaldson. We have written rhyming spells for the witch and some marvellous sentences about who we would take on the broom with us.

Chinese New Year

We celebrated Chinese New Year by making dragon puppets, listening to Chinese music, creating our own dragon dance and by having a tasty Chinese banquet. It was fantastic!

This year is the Year of the Rabbit.

Winter Walk

We spotted lots of signs of Winter on our walk. Bare trees, frost, snow, chilly weather etc. We took our thermometer with us and read it was 3 degrees. ❄️❄️❄️

Visit from Imran

We had a fantastic time learning all about the Muslim faith with Imran. We made our own Prayer Mats afterwards using a weaving technique.

Pupil Voice!

The Pupil Leaders met for the first time this year to analyse the results of the recent Pupil Questionnaire!  The results were impressive and all of the Pupil Leaders agreed that Broadbent Fold really is a safe, welcoming and inclusive school.  The group are continuing to improve the results by speaking to their own classes.  Mrs Blomeley

Year 5 Awards!

Well done to everyone who received a hard earned award in Year 5 this week.  A high standard of work, being friendly and helpful to others and being Ready, Respectful and Safe are the reasons for these awards, as well as achieving 50 and 100 star points for Bronze and Silver awards!  Fantastic work!  Mrs Blomeley
