Canine Visitor

Today, we were visited by Mo and her owner from The Dogs Trust. They taught us how to be a responsible owner and how to be safe around dogs. Remember: always ask the owner to stroke their dog and let their dog smell you first to see if it wants to be stroked!

Science investigating in the outdoor area

Reception and Nursery used the outdoor equipment to see how far and how fast a ball could go, children's ideas were used to decided how to investigate this.  They found out that the higher the drain pipe the faster the ball went.

Stone Age

Welcome back to Spring term 2, we are now half way through Year 3! This week, we have begun exploring The Stone Age Boy, by Satoshi Kitamura. We have created questions for the Boy about his experience in the Stone Age and we have also wrote speech between the Boy and Om using inverted commas correctly. In Maths, we have been using partitioning for addition and subtraction. Stay tuned for more...

A Special Visit

What an exciting afternoon for Broadbent Fold it has been! We have had the special honour of meeting Beth Tweddle MBE, the european and world champion and Olympic gymnastic medalist. The children had the opportunity to learn about Beth and watch her at work in some exciting gymnastic videos before mind mapping some questions to ask her as she visited us in our classroom. The children loved listening to Beth sharing her experiences as a gymnast and asked lots of questions all about her training and practise.

Look who came to visit!

Today we had the honour of meeting World Champion and Olympic medalist Beth Tweddle! We have been learning gymnastics with specialist sports coaches so it was fantastic to meet such an inspirational gymnast and have the opportunity to ask her lots of questions about her sport and training.

Welcome back with Beth Tweddle!

Today, Beth Tweddle MBE came to visit Broadbent Fold. She visited every class and we got to ask her questions about her gymnastics career.  We watched clips of her at the World Champions and at the London 2012 Olympics.  We asked her lots of questions:  1. How old were you when you won your first gold medal? “I was 8 years old.” 2. What age did you start gymnastics? “I started gymnastics when I was 7 years old.” “I retired when I was 28.” “Can you work out how many years I trained being a gymnast?” 3. What apparatus did you find difficult?

Viking Workshop

What a day we have had! It all started off with Njal Thorfinson snoring in Year 6. He took us back in time to when the Norsemen were trading in Brittania.

Jungle explorers

Nursery are very excited to be jungle explorers, one of their favourite songs is down in the jungle. Keep reading our blog for more updates on our learning.

Happy Half Term!

What a super last week Year 1 have had! We have really enjoyed learning about all of the different events that have been happening this week. We have eaten pancakes in our new family groups, baked valentine shortbread and decorated them, made our own Valentine's Day cards and learnt about Chinese New Year. Miss Wright asked the children to share some of things that they had enjoyed from this half term and they shared lots of ideas.

Goodbye Winter

We have had a fantastic half term exploring our topic of pirates! Today we celebrated Chinese New Year by making drums decorated with the sign of the Dog as it is the Year of the Dog. We also had a pyjama party because we reached 30 class compliments! We enjoyed eating popcorn whilst watching James and the Giant Peach.
